About Gopher Global
Gopher Global began as an idea shared in a conversation between three individuals: Moses Alipate, Kelsey Joson and Anissa Lightner. All sharing the same passion of giving back to the community and helping others. They wanted to extend the hands of Gopher student-athletes outside of the local communities. With this, Kelsey began to seek what was needed in order to make this happen without violating the NCAA compliance rules. Over the course of a year, she established Gopher Global as a non- profit corporation.
Through her work, with the guidance of Anissa Lightner and other knowledgeable business owners, Gopher Global volunteered and fundraised enough money to take their first trip to Chicago in 2012. Then in 2014, Gopher Global successfully completed its second out of state trip to South Dakota and the Cheyenne River Reservation. This summer, Gopher Global will be taking huge steps forward by undertaking its first trip across an international boarder to Winnipeg, Canada. Today Gopher Global is a collaboration of the University of Minnesota's student-athletes and alumni determined to positively impact communities both near and far. We are willing to help by sharing and volunteering our Gopher pride in a way that is beneficial to the communities we serve. Each trip we hope to depart knowing that we did what we could to leave the communities we served in a better position than before. We also anticipate that with our services we will leave a positive outlook and support of Gopher athletics and the University of Minnesota. Meet the people that make Gopher Global possible
